5.3.1. Processing fil files: overview

This chapter defines the basic tests used to verify the capability of the Abaqus2Matlab application to postprocess Abaqus results which are written in results (fil) files and documents the results of the tests.

There is no distinction between field and history output in the types of results that are printed in the results file, but in Abaqus2Matlab, three main types of such results have been considered: results of analysis type, results of node type and results of element type. The category to which an individual result type belongs can be found in the Abaqus2Matlab Analysis User's Guide. The categories to which the verification test set is divided are described below.

This set includes the tests in which the results of analysis type (i.e. results that refer to data concerning the whole model analyzed, and/or details of the analysis) are extracted from the fil file and loaded into the Matlab memory. After this, these results can be further postprocessed in Matlab.

Section 2.3: Extracting node type results

This set includes the tests in which the results of node type (i.e. results that refer to nodes of the model analyzed) are extracted from the fil file and loaded into the Matlab memory. After this, these results can be further postprocessed in Matlab.

Section 2.4: Extracting element type results

This set includes the tests in which the results of element type (i.e. results that refer to elements of the model analyzed) are extracted from the fil file and loaded into the Matlab memory. After this, these results can be further postprocessed in Matlab.
